Help with karndean flooring please

Hiya,

We got a new bathroom, back in the days of me thinking we had money, anyway the floor we got was a Karndean floor, and I was advised not to use normal floor cleaners on it as it would hurt it.
The snag is, that now I'm scared to use anything on it and it's starting to look a bit grotty. They recommend their own cleaning agents, natch, but they are very pricey and we can't afford it.
Does anyone know about Karndean and what I might be able to use on it to keep it looking nice?
Thanks x

I use regular floor cleaner on mine and it comes up quite nicley.
  • Agreed, we were advised to use Tesco Value Floor Cleaner by our fitter/salesman as it it not very strong and does not leave a residue.

    Really?
    Wow - ok...
My fitter was adamant that I wasn't to use the normal floor cleaners as it would harm the floor, but you both do, and it doesn't?

    So, Tesco value is ok?

My friend has Karndean in their chinese takeaway, and they use industrial floor cleaning solutions on it every day, and it's perfectly fine.

We have just laid ours and the builder managed to get something sticky on one bit, I attacked that with nail varnish remover and it was fine. Another bit with White Spirit and it was also fine.

Just take it easy on the floor a quick mop most of the time and a goo clean when required woul be my tip.

Of course if you do use someting other than their stuff your guarantee will be stuffed.

Right, I've finally got up the courage to tackle the floor. It's been mopped with tesco's own all purpose cleaner (25p) as suggested above. Now we wait and see if I've ruined our £350 floor...
