Informing insurer of accident.

Hi all

I recently had an accident whilst driving my wife's car (I am a named driver on her policy). Her lovely (not) insurance company are admitting liability (which I am not happy with, but thats another story) meaning she loses her no claims and no doubt a steep policy increase next year although there is no way we will stay with the current insurers.

My question is do I need to inform my insurance company of the accident even though it happened on another policy?

Not sure what the procedure is, as I have never had an accident on someone else's policy.

If you were driving, it must be declared, regardless of whose policy it is on.

However, some questions are worded rather vaguely which doesn't help. For example Aviva's quote website asks how many claims you've had, not how many accidents you've had.

The earth needs us for nothing.
The earth does not belong to us.

Just another example of why you should beware Aviva!!!

After buying a policy, you get your documents to check and ensure are correct. But they don't refer to "how many claims". Instead they refer to:
"Accidents and losses in the past 4 years"
