hi there,
i have also had this problem with the rht meter. I too am with e-on but must admit they have been really helpfull to me. I have been put on to the saveronline 9 tariiff, which means that all units that i use are charged at 9.5p no matter when they are used and have no standing charge for either of my meters.
hope this helps clarbrock
Hi jay m
Not sure how an agent's managed this if, indeed, they have.
We do offer a two-rate version of Saveonline tariffs (Economy 7) but this is one meter with two registers and not the two meters you describe.
If it is two meters, I suspect, the agent has managed to change the tariff section of your account with a product unsuitable for your meter. This will inevitably cause problems going forward.
Our billing system will not be able to reconcile your meter readings with the product and your account will become unbillable. It will drop on to a task list and be picked up by a specialist billing team and re-billed on the correct tariff.
I would pre-empt this and contact us so the account can be sorted sooner rather than later.
The agent you spoke with can also be re-trained to stop similar examples of poor customer service.
Don't mean to cause you concern jay m but this will go wrong if, in fact, the agent has done what they've said.

Hi,
I too am on E.On RHT EnergyPlan 24,and until I started reading this thread thought I was on one of the cheaper tariffs.I have a standard meter, a RHT meter and a separate timer for the latter. The RHT only supplies my hot water so why can I not bypass this meter and connect my hot water tank to a suitable cable from the main meter?
Could I then transfer to a cheaper tariff?
Coincidently the RHT timer has just stopped working and a representative from E.ON has said this model is now obsolete and its replacement will supply fewer hours. At the moment it is on all night and has two afternoon boosts. If I am indeed locked into this system should not E.ON,at the very least, provide the necessary equipment to maintain it?0 -

That's incorrect, the timeswitch settings are not added at the manufacturing point, they are "bench" added. Settings are based on industry data so they are obliged to fit the same timings. The only time they cant is if your meters market domain combination has been end dated which means the cant update your meter settings into the distributors registration service. In your case, you would be having a like-for-like change, so no update to the distributor is required.
You cant bypass the meter as that would be tampering. However, get your electrician to rewire your off peak appliances to your 24hr consumer unit.:rotfl: It's better to live 1 year as a tiger than a lifetime as a worm...but then, whoever heard of a wormskin rug!!!:rotfl:0 -
Hi Terrylw1,
Thank you for the info.I need to get back to E.ON re the timer.
I will also check whether, if I did decide to eliminate the Off Peak setup,it would enable me to be put on a cheaper tariff.0 -
No worries, if you want to make them aware you know a lot about this, ask them to check your Standard Settlement Configuration (SSC) which is how the meter is set up from their Meter Operator, is still live in the industry. If it is, then the industry will allow it and they should have contracts with agents to purchase the correct technology.
By the way, if they had not allowed for this in contracts, they would be ending your tariff as well...and they have to write to you about that.
One of the old industry sayings is "stand alone off peak meters are classed preserved so modern E7 has to be fit, plus we can't refit your old off peak meter stand alone if it gets removed". Its complete rubbish and meter operators are still fitting them. Its likely a call centre agent may believe this statement because they dont understand the market domain data, which is a specialised area in compliance.:rotfl: It's better to live 1 year as a tiger than a lifetime as a worm...but then, whoever heard of a wormskin rug!!!:rotfl:0 -
Terrylw1 you,re a star.I was not at all happy at the prospect of losing my two afternoon boosts on my RHT tariff. Now,thanks to you,I shall be much better informed in my dealings with E.ON.0

I need some help... I dont know what meter i have and none of the many people i have spoken to can help me.
I have one meter, it takes four readings.
I have an immersion, it clicks on and off at the following times automatically: 3am-7am, 2pm-4pm, 10pm-12.30am. The boost function keeps fusing so cant get hot water in between these times.
The heating ONLY works within these times also. I have underfloor heating with thermostats in each room, but cannot get any heating outside the above times.
I have been told that i have economy 7 meter, RHT meter, warmwise meter (apparently the same as economy 10 meter) yet all the time comes up to 8.5 hours each day.
Plesae help!!
Thanks0 -

Its not E7 with 4 readings.
It could be Superdeal if you are in the Northern Electric region.
It could be Warmwise if you are in the old SWEB region.
Warmwise is a very complicated radio teleswitch only meter as it has a unique operation of its heat hours. It has 2 registers for heat and one records in the week, the other records on weekends and bank holidays. Good luck finding someone in a supplier who can give you the times though as it requiries in depth knowledge of the distributors signal. I do have this information if you need it as I've done a study of them. They also have boost buttons.
Could you confirm which region you are in before going any further?:rotfl: It's better to live 1 year as a tiger than a lifetime as a worm...but then, whoever heard of a wormskin rug!!!:rotfl:0 -
Hi Terrylw1
I live in Greater London (South Croydon to be exact).
I rent the property and just want to be able to have a seperate timer for hot water and then for heating, to be set for any time of the day or night, week or weekend. I have heard that the rewiring can be complicated....
Many thanks0 -

The post codes for South Croydon are all contained in the old Seeboard (SEEB) region on this map.

Clicking on your region brings up the post codes.
I've looked up the equivalent E10 meter for this region. It is called Flexiheat.
This meter has 2 MPAN's and provides a 3 rate tariff for Day, Night & Heat. The Heat records against one MPAN.
In this case, you will get all your heating provided by the Heat rate as your heat circuit in your consumer unit is wired separately. The Day & Night are wired to the normal circuit but you get the benefit of off peak pricing in the Night Hours.
Do you want the timings for this meter? There are 2 versions, one is used more than the other, but I only have timings for the most common as the other is erratic.:rotfl: It's better to live 1 year as a tiger than a lifetime as a worm...but then, whoever heard of a wormskin rug!!!:rotfl:0
