And of course, when a conservatory salesman came calling:
Salesman: Can I interest you in a conservatory?
Me: This is a rented first floor flat.
Salesman: That's fine. We have a great deal on at the moment.
Me: I live on the first floor - only the door is at ground level.
Salesman: That's not a problem. Can I come in to show you a brochure?
Me: SLAM!
This gave me an idea for BBC: "Honest Rogue Traders". As in "So what if it's physically impossible to build a conservatory for your flat? It's not like we were planning to carry out the work anyway".
