I like the Civics and only looked at petrol ones but my sister said hers was sluggish. Is it the 2.2 i-ctdi you're referring to? and what sort of MPG does it average?

I did hear something about a new A3 coming out this year so maybe the current model will drop in price

the 1.8 petrol is ok but needs a good kicking to feel like it's going anywhere - yes it's the 2.2 cdti I've got, in the last couple of weeks i've averaged about 51mpg but i've been driving like an absolute pensioner and that's on a 17 mile each way mostly motorway commute. If I drive in my normal fashion I tend to average about 47mpg over the week - I don't ever get under 40mpg though unless I drive in completely start stop traffic around town or sit at very silly speeds for a period of time.

Not sure if there's a completely new a3 this year, I thought it was 2013

Maybe 2013 for the new a3 then, only heard it through a passing conversation so maybe mis-heard.

Thanks for all the info, it's been a big help. I will be doing more research on the 1.6 focus and the 2.2 civic and weigh up the pros and cons :T
