Santander scam doing the rounds

Beware of a "phishing" email supposedly from Santander about cashback to your account. Must be a scam, because I've had two from different email addresses and I don't even have a Santander account (Thankfully):(

My accounts at Santander, HBos, Lloyds and Barclays all have this problem. My Btinternet is going to be closed down because I have a DGTFX virus and won't confirm my password but at least I've just been sent a link to the secret wealth formula.
  • Every day I receive a "phishing" e-mail purporting to be from Santander/Alliance & Leicester. Every day I forward the e-mail to "phishing@santander.co.uk". Every day I never receive a reply from Santander.
Whereas I have received phishing e-mails from HBOS and several other institutions in the past, when I have forwarded them to the institutions involved, I have received replies. After a period of time the institutions' IT departments seem to have got to grips with the fraudsters, and the e-mails have ceased. Not so with Santander. I am under the distinct impression that the "phishing@santander.co.uk" e-mail address has no one actually receiving or even bothering to read the e-mails. They do not bother to reply. The e-mails keep coming. I believe Santander is too mean to expend money on tackling the problem. I wonder how many people are being defrauded? It's rather like the mess at Heathrow airport during the snow - see letters column in today's Daily Mail. A certain nationality which has taken over a number of formerly British institutions seems to be totally out of its depth and incapable of running them. They should be stripped of their responsibilities. It is a wonder the FSA has not stepped in concerning Santander's negligence with stemming fraudsters. But then the FSA "closed the stable door after the horse had bolted" with Halifax/BOS etc., after a long line of such cases starting with equity release in the 1980s. Be careful and do not fall for these scams, as there appears to be no institutional safety net in place.
