It was one of the few stores that has a healthy flow of customers at the till, altho most of them looked 65 or older. There were about ten shoppers in the tiny Accessorise, but no one took anything to the till, even Primark only had three tills open and no queue (some amazing reductions in there). I guess we just dont have the cash to flash!

I was in the M'boro store just before Christmas and bought a few nice presents. It was always a good "fallback" store to buy a present when all else fails. I'l be sorry to see it go

Gaaahhh! I RELY on this store for presents (birthday and Xmas) for any relative over 50 :D - where can i go now??

I used the Poppy shop online this year for similar gifts for an elderly relative. They appreciated that the money was going to a good cause as well.

I like it but it seems to have carried the exact same stock for about the last 10 years.

I too was in the M'bro store today and it all looked rather sad. Most of the stock had gone and what was left was reduced by 70%. Quite a few people were buying Christmas paper, cards etc and I bought a large basket to use for logs for only £5. The shop is in a prime site in the town opposite M&S. Just hope that it is occupied soon and not left empty.

I felt really sorry for the assistants; it must have been soul- destroying overseeing the closure of the shop just after Christmas. Hope they get other jobs, but they are hard to come by now in the north east.
