When does a warranty begin when item purchased online?

I have a electronic product with two years warranty that I have bought online 10/01/2010 so if the warranty begins with the online purchase then it expires today. However, I have received the item a couple of days later. I wonder now whether a warranty period does actually begin with the date when I receive the item.

Is that regulated by law or can the companies decide for themselves how they handle it?

Companies can decide for themselves how they handle it.

A warranty is in addition to your statutory rights, and indeed does not even need to be offered.

You're forgetting that secret EU law!!!! :rotfl:

(its a joke OP......we sometimes get posters thinking that all items should come with a 2 year warranty but it wasnt incorporated in the UK as the SoGA provides better protection)
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride
