Just spending £1000 on a BMW is like just spending £10 on a hooker. Will look more like Billy Piper than Billie Piper.0

Ah but jay, I think I'd rather spend a tenner on a hooker who was well healthy and well put together that was a bit past her prime but had only had 2 or 3 regular clients who loved and cherished her than a fragile 21 year old eastern European who has been through dozens of teenagers who don't know how to look after her for £100! You can get a lot more for your money, for example I paid just over a grand for my 75 Tourer. BMW engine, most parts relating to the engine are gearbox are BMW and pretty much everything you'll ever need is off the shelf.
Not to mention the 180bhp combined with 45mpg... although it is a diesel.
I'd look elsewhere, with the majority of BMWs you find there's a 'scene tax' just because it's a BMW. I do love them though, and will be having a 5 series when my business starts pulling more cash in. Just for a limited budget, you need to get every penny's worth you can from your money which is what I did.
Edit: I do like that Coupe. Very nice!

Once upon a time BMW used to be a respectable mans car. Now along with those, all the chavs and crackheads have them too.
BMW drivers are also bloody arrogant on the roads, undertaking, never indicating, coming at you with foglights on, driving round like king of the road etc.
I've been in a few beemers, sure they're ok but I wouldn't specifically go and look for one. The last one I was in my mate scrapped. Sure it was nice inside, the dash was nice the ride was ok but I wouldn't rate it over other 'expensive' cars in the same sort of class of a similar age.
BMW have a reputation and because of that people naturally assume that they're the best. I've known a few ex-beemer drivers over the years who say they were nice but they wouldn't go out of their way for another. I met another bloke driving an old executive class banger. He said he'd had it for several years and bought it cheap due to the make and model but he refused to get rid of it because it was superior to the BRAND NEW beemers, mercs and jags that he'd had in his life for ride and reliablity.
BMW simply has a reputation that keeps it going but that doesn't mean the best known is necessarily the best. There are other makes and models out there.
BTW, I'm not really anti-BMW either. I just don't like many of the people who drive them who think because they're in a BMW they can be !!!!! on the road. Thats all I dislike about them.0 -
Ok, Try owning one. When you find that they're refined, comfortable, handle well, are well specified and powerful, and to cap it all are actually the cheapest car to run you've ever owned despite being 2.8 litres and ~200bhp, get back to us.TrickyWicky wrote: »Once upon a time BMW used to be a respectable mans car. There's a reason BMW drivers drive like gits. It's because they ARE better than you and they know it.....0
