Hiya,
I am after a bit of advice as to what there is to do in Newcastle. I have managed to book the hotel, and am hoping to book Newcastle United tickets v Stoke on April 21st.
I am unsure as to what else to do. What sights are there to see in Newcastle? What is the nightlife like, and food? And where would anyone recommend please? I am 23 and will be going with my partner of a similar age.
Thanks
any advice/ideas would be v. appreciated

Nights out in Newcastle are popular throughout the North East. I believe you need to go down towards the river, 'the Quayside', this is the trendy redeveloped area.
There is the Baltic arts center and the Sage, you can get information on these one the net to see of they are your thing.
Shopping is good with a mixture of chains and smaller independents. If you have time you could explore a little more of the area, going up towards the Farne Islands and Holy Island, or Alnwick Castle and gardens where Harry Potter was filmed.LBM August 2011. Hello,
I'm 29yo woman from the NE, many a night out in Newcastle under my belt! There is so much to do but it entirely depends what you're into!
Nights out: Great nights out to be had down Mosley Street, if you start at Newcastle Train Station you can head across the road to the Weatherspoons, along to Revolution the vodka bar, then slightly further along to Floritas, Baby Lynch and Madame Koos. That's a popular "up by the station" night out.
Or as StandingTall suggested you can have a good night out down the Quayside down by the River. I wouldn't suggest that the Quayside wouldmake a full night out but along by the Millenium Bridge end there are a couple of lovely bars (like Pitcher & Piano) and restaurants. A nice day/night is to go and visit the Baltic & Sage as suggested above, then head over the Millenium Bridge for a couple of drinks at the Pitcher & Piano and then a meal.
Also Jesmond is great to go for a meal & Night out. Osbourne road is full of bars and then "As You LIke It" or "Mr Lynch" for after the bars close. Jesmond is a big student area so you'll always find a lot of 19-25 year olds and there are a lot of outdoor areas in the pubs and lots of places to eat too- great night out.
Stuff to do:
Baltic/Sage as already suggested
Hanock Musum
Laing Art Gallery
Sunday morning market on the Quayside
Tynemouth and a visit to St Marys Lighthouse
If you have a car then Alnwick Castle, Cragside in Rothbury, Drurudge Bay Country Park all beautiful
I basically could go on and on! If you need anymore ideas or help just feel free to PM me. :j0 -
I'd forgotten about Druridge Bay. Absolutely stunning:jLBM August 2011. DFD somewhere post [STRIKE]2025[/STRIKE]2022
