Please can someone help me choose a graphics card?

Just take extra care not to accidentally 'knock it off' the corner of the desk under those circumstances.....
I expect that would not end well
It was jammed inbetween the computer and a part of the computer desk. It wasnt going anywhere
I upgraded my computer a few months back though so definitely no issue now:idea:0 -
Oh and another side thought on fitting the graphics card in, if you google for a "PCIe Riser" you can pickup a gizmo that may let you slot a full sized card in by rotating the slot thru 90 degrees.... whether that'll work in your case or not will depend on the exact internal layout0

i dont know the 5450 would probably do the trick, from what i can see power draw is around 20-30 watt's so as long as the system doesnt have mutliple extra 'drives' and extra bits (so just a disk drive and hard drive) i cant see that it would be too much
so looking on ebuyer http://www.ebuyer.com/276451-powercolor-hd-5450-go-green-v4-512mb-ddr3-dvi-vga-hdmi-pci-e-ax5450-512mk3-shv4 is a half hight card same as http://www.ebuyer.com/291003-asus-g210-512mb-ddr3-dvi-vga-hdmi-pci-e-low-profile-graphics-card-en210-silent-di-512md3-v2-lp-Drop a brand challenge
on a £100 shop you might on average get 70 items save
10p per product = £7 a week ~ £28 a month
20p per product = £14 a week ~ £56 a month
30p per product = £21 a week ~ £84 a month (or in other words one weeks shoping at the new price)0 -
A8V Deluxe (v1.xx)
A64 3000+ S939 Winchester (1800MHz::200MHz FSB:: x9 Multiplier)
2x1GB and 2x0.5GB RAM (Dual Channel)
Enermax NoiseTaker 420W
Point of View GF7800GS 256MB AGP (430 core, 1305 Mem)
1x120GB SATA Drive
LiteOn 16x DVD +/- R/RW (D: drive in XP)
Aopen 16x DVD-ROM (E: drive in XP)
That's my current rig, and it would likely run Sims2 fine. (Correct me if I'm wrong anyone).
I have a gaming laptop on order (due end of this week/early next week). Once it has arrived and I've copied off all files I need then I'll perhaps be looking to offload it. PM me if you're interested and the time scales are OK. It also has Windows 7 and can be supplied with a Logitech wireless desktop (wireless keyboard and gaming mouse) if required - no monitor though.
But if you can simply get a suitable card for the system you have there then that would be the easiest solution.0 -
Thanks for all your replies. I'm a bit more clued up now.
I'll take a look at the risers first as we have had an offer of a full size graphics card and that would be a much cheaper option but you've all been very helpful to someone who knows very little about such things - thank you.0 -
I'm back again with another question! What are the benefits of getting the 1gb card over the 512mb card. There's hardly any difference in price.0

to be honest on a graphics card of such low power, very little, the amount of ram only tends to matter as you move up in resolutionDrop a brand challenge

Im not sure the 250w supply would run the card? would certainly be close :SCopy from one, it’s plagiarism; copy from two, it’s research.0 -
