Adult vs Child prices for holidays - rip off

Just been looking at holidays to Tenerife in October (school holiday week) and found that to book 2 x adults, 2 children is £285 more expensive than booking for 4 x adults for exactly the same flight and hotel. Does anyone know any reason why I can't just book for 4 adults and save myself a chunk of cash? Just wondered if there is anything legally stopping me? Thanks for any feedback.

don't think there is anything to stop you, it has been discussed many times on here. It tends to be that the accom may be based on 4 adults so when you add children, although they are cheaper there seems to be some adult under-occupancy....guess they just hope no-one notices!0

Thanks for that. I couldn't see why it would be a problem but you never know. I'm sure lots of people have been stung with this one but not realised. It's wrong, they rip you off in school holidays as it is. Thanks again.0

No they don't.
The just discount prices in times of lower demand, like any other business does.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
I understand how they work it but it does feel like they exploit people with children especially when the price for 4 adults is £285 cheaper than 2 adults and 2 children. That's a big saving to a family of 4 in fact that would be a big chunk of my spending money. The government constantly inform you that it is wrong to take children out of school which I completely agree with but can understand why some people do it.0

Yep, it's the supplements that do it. You pay extra as though there are 2 adults in a big room whereas if you book for 4 adults you will end up with 2 small rooms
We always took our 2 kids out of school end June/July for our holidays and never encountered any problems. Worked out much cheaper plus the resort & airports are quieter too. :cool:You're Damned If You Do & You're Damned If You Don't :doh:0 -

Thats not right you get the same room whether its 2 adults + 2 kids or 4 adults its just the price that varies due to supplements, so if its cheaper for 4 adults book it as that. The only problem it could cause is if you want to use the kids club and its full.0
