Apparently the Government have been found out over their misuse of the consultation they held over changing from DLA to PIP.
An article about it in the Guardian -

More on the report - It would seem it is about time then that they stopped and looked at it again -

The downloadable *.pdf is now available here for those who want it.
- interesting that schools.net and their educational Beveridge article share the same Spartacus name.
Sir William Beveridge for those who don't know proposed that all people of working age should pay a weekly contribution. In return, benefits would be paid to people who were sick, unemployed, retired or widowed. Beveridge argued that this system would provide a minimum standard of living "below which no one should be allowed to fall"Disclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion. The principle is a good one. Unfortunately over the years people have become adept at manipulating the scheme to suit there circumstances in order to achieve a higher income.
Just with DLA & AA when looking at means tested benefits, someone with say High AA each and receiving the OAP and not entitled to a means tested benefit, they will get £147.20 for the AA with no carers allowance being given
However those that are receiving a means tested benefit will get the £147.20 + disability premium of £110.60 and two lots of carers premiums being £62.00 - an extra £172.60 a week on top of the £147.20.
It doesn't pay NOT to claim a means tested benefit today!!
This system has run its course and should be scrapped. You shouldn't be better off by not having a pension or having worked and paid your stamps for the OAP.
When PIP comes in, Pension Credit should be scrapped entirely!
Yes I know we will be worse off, but the amount of money that we are to get is obscene.
