Hi Good for you. I really admire you. I take it you are ex forces (due to military pension). Have you tried your local Royal British Legion. Many years ago they had a separate business wing in each part of the country that gave excellent advice. It may be worth contacting the HQ of the Royal British Legion Pall Mall. Good luck. Please keep us informed. There is no such thing as a stupid question. Its best to ask and be prepared!0

What is your position regarding your War Pension/Service Pension? Are you receiving ALSO or are you even aware of it? Have you consulted SPVA?
As a disabled veteran I am familiar with all of these processes. Very much so in your case as I worked self employed for 20 years whilst on War Pension before my injuries made it too difficult.
Were you discharged before Options for Change came in or are you a recent case?0 -

Congratulations on the first step. I also have a disability, and it’s nice to see someone else that’s not using it as an excuse. Now is not only the best time to start, but also one of the best times to get a company as large as possible.
Since the recession started, I’ve doubled the size of my turnover and trebled profit. The way that I see this is that a recession is a colonic irrigation of the economy; clears out the crap, and if you can thrive now, there’s no reason why you won’t own a profitable business in a few years’ time.
As far as WTC goes, you claim on last years income, then either have an overpayment or underpayment at the end of the year, in many circumstances. The rule is that on £0 projected profit, you will see a payment of £102 per week to approximately £60 a week, then a 41% decrease from there.💙💛 💔0 -
Hi buzzard, I am also trying to start my own business and also on the same benefits as you, I searched around and found a scheme called the New Enterprise Allowance, On the job centre website this states that its only for job seekers but i spoke with an advisor at the job centre and she said there won't be a problem with me getting on there
Best thing to do is type in "New Enterprise Allowance" in google and read a little about this and contact your nearest job centre tomorrow and have a chat with one of them
I did try putting a link up but not allowed due to been new still.
Hope this helps you and others0 -
This is a good site for ex-service personnel who want to start their own business http://www.is4profit.com/small-business-news/20111129-start-up-funding-extended-to-all-ex-military-personnel.html.................
....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

There is a great scheme running through the Royal British Legion at the moment called Be The Boss, it helps ex-servicemen to set up their own business. You will receive support to put together a viable business plan as well as the opportunity to apply for up to £7,500 of start up funding at 25% grant, 75% loan.
If you access the start up funding you can also apply for further growth funding after 6 months of up to a further £22,500.
To find out more about it and to apply you need to go onto the Civvy Street website, I can't post links but if you google Civvy Street you will find it.
Good luck with it!0
