Child support... And the self employed

Hi there I am new all you dads out there be nice!
I had been receiving Csa payments regularly... Then my x decides to go self employed for obvious reasons !
He now claims to the Csa that he is earning the minimum although I have seen him doing jobs which I know are much higher paid than he claims!
Csa are not much help they can't do anything... (they claim that this is becoming the norm) It has been suggested that I should report him to inland revenue.. Do they look into all reported cases?
Very frustrated as we had the child together its not fair that I should be the only one to pay to raise the child...?
Any help an suggestions welcome.... He has only been self employed since July /aug 2011

There is a child support sub-forum here you might want to get this thread moved there for a few more responses.
To be honest there is little you can do apart from appeal to his better side if he has one. He doesn't have to pay anything but...any payments he has not paid will accrue arrears when the final figures are presented to the HMRC (not inland revenue) for the tax year 2011-2012 in January 2013. It will take a further 3 months or so to get the payments flowing then if he decides to he could just quit the self employment and pay £5 a week.
Try and negotiate something without the help of the CSA for the time being and get CSA to get his final accounts from the HMRC on or after January 2013.:footie:Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.
