cheapest line rental and broadband (only use 1 month in 3)

We are looking for the cheapest way to get phone line rental and broadband, we are looking at possibly being out of the country 2 out of every 3 months, and at present are with BT ( £47 a quarter.a fortune cause we dont make phone calls only want line for internet) and plusnet (£7 per month) and we are looking for a much cheaper option.

have looked at "dongle" , but would like to keep a phone line if possible

anyone any ideas, looked at primus- and they seem to be slated by lots of people

You could keep the line rental going (no way around that) on a12m contract, and then activate and deactivate a 30 day rolling broadband contract as you come and go, but it would be a lot of hassle. On something like Plusnet (assuming a Market 3 exchange) you'd only be paying £63pa for the unused 8 months.
You can use Line Rental Save to reduce your annual charge from BT to £10 per month-an immediate saving of £55.20pa, and negotiate on the broadband cost if you are out of your minimum term.
