  • Let's give it a chance. If it works, stick with it. If it does not, do another switch to another bank

Though I would not venture which of the big 5 would warrant a switch given their track record
  • Virgin's way of doing business is as follows. Cheap at first to get lots of customers and then hike the prices and charges later on. Buy Northern Rock at a knock down price from the taxpayer (you and I) and make a fortune. Set up a Virgin One and sell it off!

See my other post about the Virgin Media - they charge me £26 pm just for BB - 1mb download and 1.5 upload! I have been informed that their prices are going up £3.50 every 12 months. This doesn't happen in the USA or many other countries. In fact, prices in the Americas are coming down. Rip off Britain, stupid British, we moan, but never do anything about it, we just pay up.

Anyone been on a Virgin train and noticed the strong smell of raw sewerage as the doors open? I have stopped using their trains cos the sewerage smell makes me feel sick.

Anyone remember the days when Virgin were one of the cheapest airlines? Not anymore! Do a search for a flight, and Virgin are at the bottom, past BA, dearer than most of the airlines. I stopped flying with Virgin years ago.

With all their services, they start off cheap to get customers, a loyal following and then hike prices knowing they have a loyal customer base. They do it with all their services.

Didn't Branson say something along the lines of wanting to make trains the most desirable way to travel in the mid to late 90s? I won't disagree that the Virgin enterprises have a way of changing the market, but it seems to me that there is often an overstatement of expected effect.

He was going to do wonderful things on the London to Brighton route, including double-decker trains. When he announced this at a press conference he was asked how they'd cope with the tunnels on the route. That was the last anyone heard of his interest in operating the route.

    He's full of hot air.

...and he wanted to keep Concorde running: well until someone told him the cost of doing so
and that was the last we all of that as well.

Pity he dropped it as quick as he did, I was looking forward to him coming a real cropper on it and on the Branson Brand being finally sunk without trace forever.

Sadly, whilst he's often come a cropper, he usually bounces back. Remember his litter campaign? that never got past a few press conferences.
