    What sort of course is it? You might find a big corporation who do sponsorship.

    try shaw trust
    :confused::confused::confused::confused::confused:
  • You might also find that your local CAB has a list of local businesses and charities that can help financially, (I got £550 from 2 about 10 years ago to help with a vocational course).

    8K may be better utilised on an academic course rather than a vocational course.Do you mind me asking which course you are looking to start?
    Don’t be a can’t, be a can.
  • Thanks for your help but I think I am barking up the wrong tree.

    ohreally - not interested in an academic course - I need this vocational course - in finance.

    mikewebs - Shaw Trust are brilliant but I think that £8K would be beyond them.

    The £8K pays for all the books, tuition, courses, seminars, etc for one year. I will get full qualifications plus extras. It guarantees me an 8 month work placement on a student salary with a Company in my own area, with guaranteed work placement on a full-time contract at the end of the 12 months.

    It would be absolutely brilliant - if I could lay my hands on £8K

    I have sent you another IM... the libarary will have books on corporate sponsorship, and you could also approach mortgage brokers to see if they will take you on a s a trainee and sponsor you to do the course.

    A Career Development Loan will cover the fees up to £8000 including an amount for living expenses. Ask at your local CAB or Jobcentre. You don't need to pay it back until the course finishes by which time you may have some income?

    I am not sure whether I am allowed a CDL or not since I am in a lump sum IVA - to be paid after an insurance claim is processed in two years' time. I am not allowed any credit at all. There are three banks who do the CDL and acceptance is down to "status". I was going to ask my IP this week if I am allowed in the first place, then phone the co-op - whom I bank with since the IVA - to see what they say about it.

    Thanks for the input.
