Is it worth me buying a Merlin Pass?

As most will be aware the merlin pass sale is on and I'm not sure if I should buy them or not so I am looking for advice!

We are hoping to get the Sun holiday bargain for the Blackpool area and have noticed that there is a combination ticket for the large 7 (or is it 6?!) attractions in Blackpool for the price of £37.00 per person.

I thought this was a bargain price when considering the price per attraction.

Then I got thinking that I would love to take my little one to Sea Life Centre a few times a year. Then there's Warwick Castle and my favourite theme Park Alton Towers.

If I buy the tickets I will be buying three (mum, me OH) as my little one is 13 months old so don't think she will need one at this age.

I would use the ticket for 3 trips to alton towers, 4 to sea life, 1 to Warwick, and potentially to Blackpool twice during the 12 months.

And I would hope to go London at least once and go on the London eye, and other london attractions covered by the pass.

My mum would use it roughly the same as me.

My OH though isn't a day out kind of person. Getting him to Alton Towers is a nightmare. If we went Blackpool he would likely use the pass there and possibly once to Sea Life, and once to Alton Towers.

My question is, given the amount of times we would potentially use our passes would it be worth it? And would you buy your OH a pass if it didn't look like he would use it as much as you would?

    I've been Money Tipped!
    Only you can answer this.

If the sums make the merlin pass cheaper for your planned trips, will you be doing extra visits BECAUSE you have the pass?

I considered spending my tesco vouchers getting some for our family, then realised with the added cost of petrol + train fares of making extra trips to get the full value out of the merlin pass, it actually would cost me a heck of a lot more.

  • Just do a simple calculation of where you intend to go and see if the figures work out for you. I had one of these when we lived in Surrey and it was excellent as we had a few theme parks close by along with a short commute into London.

Well worth the money for us.
