As above, useless switch, has not worked properly since put in a few months ago, and has now jammed totally in the off position.
Question - Is this dangerous? Has it somehow bridged between off and on?
I am totally peed off with buying things which do not work.

i doubt its actually dangerous. bit of plastic broke or some contacts have moved.
probably one of those cheap chinese rubbish ones.
take it back and change it for a branded one such as mk or crabtree.Get some gorm.0 -
I had exactly the same problem with a cheap Wilkinsons one that I fitted. Went for a MK one and you can can definitely tell the difference in quality0

We are presuming it was installed correctly? Just asking, since someone who fits something and ignores sub-optimal operation for a couple of months is perhaps not the most thorough of workers0 -

It was installed not by me, but by a builder - yet another tradesman who has failed to complete a job properly. Unfortunately he has refused to come back and put the job right.0 -
These pull switches always fail. When I redid my bathroom I got rid of the bathroom cord pull switch and wired in an ordinary switch just outside the bathroom."Never underestimate the mindless force of a government bureaucracyseeking to expand its power, dominion and budget"Jay Stanley, American Civil Liberties Union.0

Even MK ones in my experience, and before anyone goes blaming my DIY skills I sent it back to MK who confirmed the diagnosis and sent a replacement0 -
This happened to mine after someone had had a long bath and filled the room with steam and condensation. After 24 hours it worked again fine and has ever since.0

This used to happen with the old one, particularly after the missus had one of her "mega showers" (full power, extreme heat)
The bathroom used to resemble a sauna afterwards, and I could never get her to open the window and turn the heating off when she was finished.;)
I am going out to get an MK one soon, and I will fit it myself.0 -

yes they do, but only after many yrs service.
(used to be the case).
in the old days, i use to fix a pull cord switch once in a blue moon.
with all the chinese rubbish hardware about, these problems are now common place.Get some gorm.0 -
Hi, I used to sell trade electrical supplies and will confirm that a lot of the cheaper ones fail (prob about 25% - 33%). We just used to refund without question and recommend a better one, MK is probably best for your money. Some of them are that bad the supply companies don't even query the refund or ask for the product back to test.0
