On Boxing Day, I ordered a treadmill from Argos, it was apparently reduced so I thought we were getting a good deal and looked forward to receiving it. My confirmation email stated the price and delivery charge and that we would hear from Argos by 7th January to arrange delivery.
We didn't hear from Argos so I called them yesterday to be told that their computer showed the item wasn't in stock, although at the time of purchase it was, it is now no longer on their website, but my credit card has been charged the full amount. The operator said we would be contacted again by 5th February to arrange delivery. She said that if we contacted Argos after delivery then we would receive some sort of compensation, usually a percentage of the cost of the item. I'm not holding my breath. My husband says we should just order another one, say from Amazon, who guarantee it will be with us in a few days. I'm up for doing this as we have it in our heads to get fit now and not happy to wait another month.
Are we entitled to a full refund including delivery? I thought that most retailers don't even deduct credit cards until the items are in stock.
If someone could please confirm that we will get a full refund I'll order the other treadmill and cancel with Argos in the morning.
Thanks.

You are entitled to a full refund, simply contact Argos and tell them you wish to cancel under the Distance Selling Regulations.
They may take up to 30 days to refund your money though.0
