Kitchen Appliances questions

I'm moving into a new flat next week and it's the first time I will have owned my own large kitchen appliances (they've always been included in private rents before). There's a few things I'm unsure about, so I wondered if anybody on heere might be able to help?
1) For daily cooking, does it work out cheaper to use a electric or gas cooker? (I know installing a gas cooker is more expensive, but am thinking about day to day fuel usage costs).
2) What sort of price might I expect to pay a plumber to install a washing machine and dishwasher? There appears to be just the one set of hot/cold feed pipes and a waste pipe for a washing machine there. (I'm in the North West by the way, near Manchester.)
3) Also I want to install a shower in the bathroom. The flat has a combi boiler which is in a cupboard which backs onto the bathroom wall where the shower would need to go (the non-tap end of the bath; the tap end is under the wondow so not posible to put shower there). I've been told I could get a thermostatic mixer shower, feeding water straight from the boiler? Does anybody have any idea how much this might cost to install?
I'd be really grateful for any help anyone can give me. It's very exciting buying your first home, but very nerve wracking too!!!

Buy the shower and get the plumber to do that job at the same time as the washing machine etc. I imagine to do the whole lot will cost £150-£200.0

Installing an electric shower will allow you to have hot water if the boiler fails. Must check cabling though.
In my experience, gas cooker is a lot cheaper for cooking for a few hours a day.0
