Barclaycard World Mastercards and Vodafone

  • A bit over the top possibly, but the fact that they (and Barclaycard) have been aware of this issue for months smacks of gross incompetence. Fortunately I have an alternative card that I can use. If I had to rely on a Barclaycard World card I would be stuffed.

But there's nothing to stop you using the many other ways of buying Vodafone credit. This whole thread seems to be completely over the top for what is really a very minor issue.

If you ask them to topup by £5 for free, how can this be possible, if option is not on the system. Are you expecting them to pay for you?

Because the option is currently on their system for supervisors to implement where they Vodafone are at fault. One supervisor who was a call stroker chose to use the option but another supervisor two weeks later who was a hard nosed customer stamping call cruncher chose not to.
If the phone was that important you should have checked the balance before leaving, could have purchased the top up card or paid cash. The payg is not design for people who make important calls go for pay monthly.
What utter rubbish. Most young people under 21 with no credit rating only have a Pay As You Go mobile phone and do not have any other form of phone and yet a mobile phone is the only kind of phone younger people use.
It seem you have never worked in a corporate or large companies otherwise you would have known that everyone will need to work and stay within company policy, that's life for working in the corporate.
With your kind of mentality there would have been no Arab Spring, no end to Communism in Eastern Europe and no overthrow of Saddam Hussein. Clearly you can be relied to implement whatever unacceptable policies your bosses want so long as you get paid for it.
    Go and get a life.

Face it that you quite clearly don't have one yourself as otherwise you would't spend nearly all your own free time crawling over these forums looking for posts that give you the most exciting opportunities to troll and flame other forum members. Contrary to your pious self chosen forum name its more than clear that your main purpose in being here is actually to act as the bad man.:mad::mad::mad:

And there's nothing to stop one of Vodafone's senior directors cancelling a few unnecessary business lunches so that he/she has sufficient time to kick !!! in the IT and operations division to get this completely simple IT matter fixed.

You think this is trivial. Vodafone is a very major retailer and can you imagine what would have happened if for the last four months a major petrol retailer or a major restaurant chain had turned round and told customers who had filled their tank or just eaten a meal that their Barclaycard Mastercard was not valid and that the Police would now have to be called.........
  • Change phone provider? even PAYG numbers can be transferred now....
  • In the latest Which? report on mobile phone networks, the summary for Vodafone was as follows, based on member feedback:

    BAD 55%

"Customer service is non-existent. 3G coverage outside large urban areas is very poor."
  • Slightly different topic, I tried to transfer a balance from this card to another and I wasn't able to as the 6-digit IIN wasn't recognised by the other card company.

Out of interest what was the company you tried to transfer the balance to that refused the transaction and didn't you go back and log a high level complaint with Barclaycard Customer Relations about your inability to transfer your existing balance elsewhere?

Don't worry I already have a SIM pack here from GiffGaff I received a few days ago and the only thing that was holding me up from changing was finding a suitable secondhand Android Smartphone on Ebay and/or ideally I wanted to wait until the new Dual Sim 3G Samsung Android 2.3 models become available (even if only by mail order on Ebay from India etc where they will be going on sale). However I may be better off getting a decent unlocked single SIM Android Smatphone and then just bunging my GiffGaff SIM in an unlocked non smartphone when I go anywhere abroad whilst buying a local Pay As You Go SIM to put in the Smartphone during the trip.

I have finally succeeded in registering my Barclaycard World Mastercard with Vodafone. It's only taken them 4 months to get the card recognised.
