Hi,
I bought an zanussi fridge freezer last May 11 and I am having a lot of problems with the evaporating tray above the compresser at back filling up with water (not evaporating) and overflowing onto the floor every few mths. Otherwise the fridge/freezer is working perfectly.
I have had the engineer out on 3 occasions he has said that its a heat transference problem as there is a space between tray and the compressor) you can easily push you hand in between them) He has also said its not an air circulation problem where the fridge is situated.
He contacted zanussi tech suppoart and he told me that they are aware of the problem and he fitted a modified tray which he glued onto top of compressor. (only way of holding it in place)
That was october, but I noticed water on the floor at front of fridge again yestereday and evaporating tray was full up again and the tray itself has come loose, the adhessive was no longer holding it.
What are my rights here with zanussi? So far I have to pull the fridge out every few mths and clean up the spillage of water. It is certainly not doing my back or floor lino any good.
If zanussi just keep on trying to fix it soon the guarnantee will run out, and I am up the creek.
The shop where I bought it is no longer there, do you think a good strong letter to zanussi customer service would do much good?
Hope that I might get some pointers in the right direction and thanks for reading.

Since Zanussi have been playing ball so far (and the shop you bought it from is no longer there) I have no better suggestion than keeping persevering with them.
I assume this design fault would persist with a replacement too?Thinking critically since 1996....0 -
You didnt happen to pay with credit card did you ?You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0

Thanks for replies, Yes I did actually pay with a credit card, does this give me more rights I wonder?

It makes the credit card company jointly responsible with the retailer for the performance of the contract.
This means that instead of looking to the extinct retailer, you can ask the cc co for a remedy.
