Folder permissions on Windows 7

I have 2 accounts: one admin account for me
and one normal user account for my father

on C: all my files are under /users/me so only I can access them.

I want to make a folder on the d: drive that only I can access and not him

Not sure what permissions I need to set - I tried to remove the group 'Users' from accessing it but then I couldn't access it - can someone advise?

edit: I created a folder 'test' - removed all inheriting permissions and then set to Full control for just my user - I can access it now (it still has a padlock icon next to the folder icon though) - is this the correct setting?

Have you tried adding your account individually after removing the group 'Users'? Eg, the only users/groups insecurity with access should be system, authenticated users and yourself.

If that doesn't work, look for your dads account. In security add his account, and set 'Read' and 'list contents' to 'Deny'

Just a suggestion - you may like to consider having an ordinary account for yourself and a computer administrator account as well as your fathers. If you need to perform admin functions whilst logged in as yourself, you can do that by 'right clicking' and selecting 'run as administrator'. The danger of having your own account having admin rights is that if someone hacks you whilst you're online for example, they will have unrestricted control over the computer.

jaydeekuk's suggestions should work in my opinion

You may need to take ownership of the folder first and then remove any other groups/users. The padlock indicates that the content is 'not shared'.
