    Contact your local council.

It is your responsibility to be on the electoral role if you are eligible to vote, in fact it is a legal requirement.

Each council updates their list once per year in September/October by sending round a form. Outside these times you have to contact them yourself.

Oh my goodness i am seriously worrying about this now as i also have never been on the electoral role to my knowledge, do you think it will effect our chances of getting a mortgage?

I have no idea how we have missed a letter from the council every year, if they have sent one.

It does impact you but isnt a legal requirement so is down to individual lender to decide if they want to accept you without being on the roll or not.

If you go to the councils website there should be a form (probably to download and print) for you to complete and send back to get onto the electrol roll but it does take a while to be done and the reference agencies then updated
