Looking at part exchanging my fiat bravo 1.9 diesel multijet, 57 plate with 70,000 mile on the clock, anyone advise what I should be looking at getting for it ?

Im looking at adding £5000-£6000 to it and need a 5 door diesel for work that can take roof bars, needs above 1.6 engine and to be as fast as possible for the motorway, obviously the less miles its donw the better and the newer the better.

Ive been browsing a newish bravo with 12500 on the clock an a 1.6 engine but worry this may be too sluggish? but it does have 18000 service intervals which is a bonus - any other suggestions or advice appreciated.

Even a 1L car can go fast enough on the motorway to get banned. Not many cars on the road that wont do at least 100mph.

£4k part ex price if its the new shape with 40,000 miles. Depending what markup they have on the car your buying
anything from 3k to 5k part ex.

Depends on your cars power output, Some of the 1.6's have more power than some 1.9's

105 - 120bhp for the 1.6. Most 1.9's are the same with a couple of exceptions.

thanks for letting me know small cars can go fast x

its the pick up difference obviously if Im on rural roads I need to be fairly responsive to get past slow vehicles as well as a decent ride on the motorways

Looking at 1.6 fiat bravo or 1.6 Hyundai 130 - any comments??

Something for overtaking on country lanes you want a V6 with 250bhp.

Diesels have great mid range power for overtaking but i hate the fact you usually need to change gear halfway...

    I prefer petrols...

    Ford Focus?

    Octavia diesel?

Your'e looking at around £3700 for the FIAT part-ex. How many miles do you do a year?
  • part ex value could be between £3780-£4250 57 plate dependant on inside and outside condition service history and mileage HPI clear.

here i would recommend the octavia/superb for comfort with power under the hood for the size of the car, VRs, elegance, diesels or petrols.

something smaller but a compramise in interior and ride would be the fabia VRS, golf or Jetta TDI's but fun all the same to drive responsive agile nippy.

JAP possibly, with the like of mitsibushi and their lancer model range (not evo) heared some good praise on them.

There's a very nice model of lancer, the actual model definition escapes me but it's like a tuned down evo hatch, still has a turbo, lower insurance group, looks great but not over the top and is far less likely to get you noticed by the local plod and boy racers.
