(Any) Autotrader Scams
A while ago I located a Land Rover for sale on Autotrader. It was scam by the way, The guy who was selling it said he bought it and moved to France, but as it was right hand drive and no good for him over there, the Land Rover was only 1 year old and only want 4k for it. The engine pictures were almost new and on his pictures it said only use this email. Anyway along with several other 'baiters' we decided to 'buy' it. After the first initial email reply which was tracked to Nigeria several baiters gave the guy a hard time and got the 'Yahoo payment site' which again was fake closed down until he moved on.
Just looking for another scam sale now, but has anyone come across any sales scams recently that they can link me the page, so I can try to buy the car.
cheers.

All the big powers they've silenced me. So much for free speech and choice on this fundamental human right, and outing the liars.

Not looked lately but LOADS.....
Selling the same car twice..... One genuine and the other a clone is a good one. Not having any car for sale is another.
Not unknown for people to get mugged when they turn up to buy a car.
Scams from buyers are plenty also, From fake buyers who want it shopped after paying with rubber cheques etc,
Or buyers who pay with fake money.
Mate sold an old motorhome, Ended up with a few dodgy notes in there. Luckily it wasnt that many, And he managed to spent them.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Hi,
In response to the recent posts on "autotrader scams" a scammer is trying it on again! They have listed a 2006 BMW 120d Msport for £3200 i did think it was to good to be true so emailed the seller! it was very convincing at first until with a trail of emails later sounding very legit up untill the point where they wanted to see a proof of us travelling to meet them in preston and to show a money transfer in my name via western union! hahah dont think so they asked if i could supply a proof document that the money was there and that i could collect once in preston! they did continue to say they would send me a proof document so that they was`nt wasting there time in travelling all the way down form thruso in scotland!, they could`nt supply me any direct information i was asking for and even though i HPI checked the car it all came back legit and in order, i did ring the contact number on the website (1st number not accept incoming calls) 2nd a man answered and was the boss of a legit car sales place (junction 27 m6) before i finished saying bmw he had already stopped me and said his website had been hacked and someone had been listing his cars on the website for very very cheap! since that phone call i have replied to the fake email/add stating i have family about an hour away and they would be willing to view the car on my behalve, no response as of yet! the email is under a yahoo account of " RECSONTOM@YAHOO.CO.UK so please beware of this address!0 -
Only Autotrader scam I see on a regular basis is when I'm shopping for bangers, see something for sale for, say, £199 and then buried in the advert it says "Actual price £1,995" or "£199 per month for 3 years".
Winds me up no-end, if someone is shopping for cars for a few hundred quid, what makes them think they're going to be prepared to pay thousands for the Mk4 Golf they're trying to shift?0 -

Thats so they pay half the listing fee as the advertised value is less than £1000 or something like that. Report them to Autotrader if you can be bothered as they will pull the adverts and the seller doesnt get a refund! hehe"Dream World" by The B Sharps....describes a lot of the posts in the Loans and Mortgage sections !!!0
