Replacing/renovating sofa cushions.

Hi, I have a two and three seater pair of sofas I bought years ago as an investment. It was before sofas became as cheap as they are now and they are VERY solidly built. The set cost over 4k. I think the seat cushions are filled with feathers, but am not sure, it could be some sort of Kapok. Anyway, these sofas are very comfortable but after 15 years they tend to sag a bit where I always sit on them. No matter how much I plump up the cushions they have a dip the next day. I am in the middle of recovering them, but thought it would be a good idea to renew the cushions fillings. I assumed that I could buy fire retardent foam to fill them and that it would be quite cheap to get the cushion foam cut to shape. HOWEVER, when I look online the average cost is over two hundred pounds.:eek: _pale_Thats ridiculous. Has anyone got any suggestions as to how I may be able to renovate these cushions more cheaply and still conform to the fire regs and have foam or whatever that can stand heavy duty wear? I have looked on Ebay with no joy so far, they dont sell foam that is thick enough :think:. I am on a pension now.

foam is very expensive now when you buy small quantities.
you can try dunelm mill, or a local upholsterer who is prepared to sell you some foam at cost.

i've just replaced the foam in my three piece suite and it did cost me just under £200 for 2 chairs and sofa ,
i figured that it would cost me £1.5-2 k to replace the lot ,but as it is not worn out i figured it would last another 7-8 years at least
