Bank refusing to provide information as loan has end

I have used the letter on this website to request information of my loan that I look out with Natwest between 2nd July 2003 and 1st July 2008 as I do not have any information about whether they charged me PPI. I requested the information under section 77 of the Consumer Credit Act. I have received a letter back from Natwest saying that as my loan has ended they have no obligation to provide the information I have requested. They also state that they would comply with a subject access made under the DPA but that will not include providing personal data contained in manual archived files as these files are not structured in a way that they are a `relevant filing system' for purposes of DPA. They state that they are making me aware of this so as to not raise my expectations that a subject access request will produce copies of agreements relating to repaid loans.
Does anyone know where I can go from here? Any help on this would be much appreciated

Are you still a Natwest customer?
Call lending on the 023 8022 6443 and ask them if they can confirm whether there was any PPI on your loan.
Or you can Call the PPI Complaints Unit directly on: 0800 015 0319.

The bank is correct then. The requirements under the CCA end once the debt has been repaid/account has been closed. Basically you sent the wrong letter. You should have done an SAR.Does anyone know where I can go from here?
Do an SAR but be prepared to get little back. You may get back what you are after but you may not.
If this is in respect of a complaint, then you dont need to get copies of anything. You just make the complaint.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
