Anyone know if they're any good?
I'm currently insured with Budget who have been ok. But their broker was AWFUL... i rang them today to ask not to renew my cover in march and they offered to change the broker to the above and give me a discount (£260 down to £211).
Just want to know if they're any good coz if not then i won't bother and will go elsewhere!
Other factor is, i live down the road from heath lambert so if they're rubbish i could walk down the hill and give them a kick up the bum!

You seem to have got things a little bit confused....
Budget (and Heath Lambert) are both brokers and not insurers. If it is Budget you called then they will have offered to change your insurers for a discount and not your brokers (as they are your brokers)
What type of insurance are you looking to buy? HL are very much aimed at commercial types of insurance like aerospace, bloodstock, reinsurance, marine cargo etc and as far as I am aware dont do personal lines car and home insurance (if they do I would suspect it is a partnership with another broker and so it is really the likes of Budget or The AA that you would be dealing with)All posts made are simply my own opinions and are neither professional advice nor the opinions of my employers

hallo!
yes i probably did get confused! basically i pay budget and that's who's on my paperwork etc, the last year though, if i made a claim (which i did) i had to talk to another company (who were rubbish). Budget said that they'd change that other company to HL instead of the rubbish people... and that they'd give me a discount... interesting about the commercial stuff though! thanks!
ps... sorry! i'm thick!_____________________________________________

For the last 2 years I have got my buildings and contents insurance via this website
https://insurance.heathlambert.com/site/site_start.aspx
I have found it competitive and I have also found it useful that I can tailor my quote on line.
For example I could specify items like cameras, bicycles, jewelry and set my own amount for personal possions.
It also includes legal cover.
So it basically met all my requirements without having to phone up.
It's not that I don't like speking to humans but being able to do it 24/7 is an advantage.
They appear as a broker so they search several insurers for you.
It's no frills e.g. you get a pdf and not a glossy brochure.
I think I've had a different insurer each time because my requirements changed a bit.
I would recommend them on the basis of
cost
tailorability
cover provided
ease of information
I have never had a claim though and that's when you really find out how good they are so I can't comment on that.0 -
My girlfriend works for them in the evenings. She says they are a good company so when we renew we will probably use then. Then again we will get a discount so we would.0

hi i am awaiting a contents insurance payout from heath lambert which when i was broken into on the 4th of jan 09 has still not arrived even though cp adjusting who they have used to handle my claim have made a offer of payment 14 days ago which i accepted then have mysteriously found 2 ccj's in my name at a previous address (which i know nothing about) the day after the offer which i have had to sign a mandate for cp adjustors to obtain details from the court so heath lambert can now decide if they pay me out or not ..... this is really stressfull for me as i was wiped out by the burgalry and thought everything was covered but not neccesarily so after discussing with friends and colleagues they find this unaceptable and if this carries on a formal complaint will be made to heath lambert also anyone else who has suffered similar please share thanks and sorry for the long reply0

Where did you get the cover from Heath Lambert from eg building society etc.
If you can demonstrate that Heath Lambert do not specifically ask on the proposal form whether you have any CCJs then you have a good case. If they do not ask then they will try and say you should have declared it as a "Material Fact" which the Ombudsman normally rules in the customers favour.
P.S Dunstan can you just keep one thread going as its easier for us all on here to follow each others answers on one thread rather than have to read three. In addition the answers if they are spread over three threads will not make sense to any one in the future who uses your thread to assist them0 -
sorry this is new to me posting etc will take note
i got the contents insurance from the internet comparison site then from heath lambert key connect site back in july 08 when i moved into the property0 -
Do you know who Heath Lambert Insured you with as the Connect site is a comparison site the chances are your insured with someone else0
-
on the household policy schedule the insurers registration is prestige home on behalf of HSBC (ireland ltd) on the policy it states key connect home insurance hope this helps
thanks in advance for any information0 -
What you need to do is run through a quote on the Heath Lambert wesbite you used originally and they select the HSBC policy and see if it asks you any specific questions about does the policy holder or household have any CCJs. It would be sensible to take screen prints of the relevant parts or screen grabs. Obviously do not buy the cover.
If this does not work you could ask for a copy of the proposal form to see if its on there.
If they do not then it is fairly likely they did not when you took cover out.
If they do not ask the specific question then you can argue with the Insurer whether it was a material fact or not especially as you were not aware of the CCJs0
