Just want to check what people have been saying about making something and then freezing the portions...can you do this if the meat has already been frozen?

Am I right in thinking you can freeze the meat for a second time as it has now been cooked?

Sorry to ask a dumb question but i generally go to butchers every other day on way home from work so I never freeze cooked food....but am curious.

    Thanks in advance:D

when you cook the meat,it becomes a 'new' product.

A colleague many years ago tried to separate two frozen burgers with a sharp knife. Hand slipped down the knife, little finger almost severed
Although the little finger was saved it never worked and remained curled.
Defrost, cook and refreeze if need be..

How about inviting family round (as a thank you for their help in moving perhaps) and cooking the joint then?

Thats a lovely idea Pudsey, I was hoping to use it this weekend as our niece & her boyf came to stay, unfortunately their bus home was at 1pm so too early for Sunday roast.

Our families live in Oxford and we're now in Leicester so we dont have them over as much as we'd all like; want to use up the joints in the next 2 months (we have a small under counter freezer so they take up a but of space) :0)

If you are looking for a way to use up the leftover pork, might I recommend this recipe it is delicious, different, and really easy to make. (I make up a few lasagnes and freeze them)

    Resurrecting an old thread.

Wondering if anyone uses a saw to cut their frozen meat?

I've a few legs of lamb in the freezer. Too big to fit in the slow cooker in one piece, but great when cut in half.

In the past I've cleaned an old wood saw and used that but I'm thinking of getting a new saw just for meat.

Choice is between another wood saw or a tenon saw, but the latter seem too small to me.

Hi. Last year I got given a frozen haunch of venison and no way was it going to fit in the small freezer of my aunts house i was in at the time!! So my dad took a hacksaw to it and cut it to fit the freezer!! :D

When I got home I then defrosted it, and cooked a mega venison casserole and froze it in portions, So i would say either cut it with a hacksaw, or defrost and cook and then freeze in portions
