thank you very much for your sound advice and comments

it hasn't been easy but I've been very lucky and worked all my life so was able to pay my mortgage and past loan payments on time. My youngest daughter has just passed her driving test and is at college, she also works at Next 2 nights and on Saturdays, but transport to work is a bit of a problem, so I am going to give her a little helping hand...just as I have done with my other 3 kids, who have all insisted that they paid me back, and have done so.

Sorry that you have got embroiled in this nonesense, I didn't realise that asking for advise on types of loans would bring with it such vitriol

thanks again, I'm done here :)

To be fair, you can't, that's why you posted asking about the best way to go about borrowing the money. ;)

Although in answer to your question, if I was doing it (though I wouldn't) I'd be searching for the company with the potential best loan rate, and going something around 5k for something like £250 a month over the two years.

Hope your daughter will appreciate it!

Thanks, you're welcome. Good for you and your daughter. I'm glad if that's been an addition to your thinking. Yes, as I already said, it's refreshing to read some stuff by someone nice and sensible and upbeat such as your good self. Makes a change from the large amounts of negativity here and on some of the other boards.

The weirdos are just water off a duck's back. Their failure doesn't bother me, that's their problem. Evidently there's a lot of sad people who come here to try to expiate some of their personal failure and tragedy, poor sods. I have great sympathy for the failures in life, despite their frequent unpleasantness. But they are rather tiresome, trying to derail threads such as this all the time. Oh well, that's just life, isn't it, it's rather difficult for some weak second raters but what can you do. It's not my job to sweep the world clean. I'd need a rather large broom, wouldn't I.

Yes, onwards, forwards, upwards. That's nice thinking about you and your daughter and the new car, that's all good, well done again. I think I'm going to go for a nice stroll now and take the evening air. Lovely.
