I'm not asking you to be a condescending nob...how I choose to run my life and financial affairs has got absolutely nothing to do with you...this thread is called 'Loans'..and I was asking for advise about loans not a lesson in how to behave as a parent...if I couldn't afford to do it i wouldn't...now run along and be a keyboard warrior elsewhere
another parental lesson....no thanks...what are you doing in a loans thread if you dont like people getting loans?

how have I managed to live to 55 with my house almost paid for...the loans I've taken out in my adult life paid for, with no defaults without your wonderful input I've no idea...

    run along
no..I asked for advice about loans not how I behave as a parent with regard to finacial help for my daughter

blimey what has this website come to? it will certainly turn people away if you can't ask a fundamental question about loans on a loan forum without a lesson in good parenting....

but I'm sure leeds and 79 will come along and tick your thanks button chesky ;)

Yes, precisely, well said. There are so many appallingly inferior twits clogging up this board and a number of others. So many of them so often miss the point, gratuitously make idiot childish digs and don't contribute anything at all. Just gratuitous nonsense and unpleasantness all the time.

Well done for getting the mortgage down to near the end, that's a nice position to be in, I'd expect probably after lots of years of work and careful management of your affairs. Good on you, it's refreshing to read some positivity here from someone productive and in charge of their life.

Assuming that the interest rate of the mortgage is probably fairly low then if after checking that you can add the extra at the same interest or at a cheap rate then I'd probably check what interest rates are available from other sources of lending such as a personal loan. Just possibly if you did some hunting about you might be able to match or better the mortgage rate but I'd guess that that would be fairly unlikely.

Although adding it to the mortgage therefore means it's secured to your property whereas a personal loan would likely not be secured I don't think that that's particularly of any relevance to consider in your case, seeing as you're in such a good position and it's not a particularly big amount. But although a relatively minor aspect perhaps it's worth bearing in mind.

So, yes, adding a few k to your nearly finished mortgage would probably be the way to go.

How nice that as a good dad you're helping your daughter get a car, lovely, I wish you and her all the pleasure and usefulness of it. Good.

Seriously, why are you so unpleasant nearly all the time? Seriously, why are you virtually incapable of going with the flow and being positive and helpful instead of relentlessly sneering? Seriously, what is wrong with you? Seriously, why are you here. Seriously, you have a bad attitude which is inappropriate here. Seriously.

Here you are again, doing your usual. As always, nothing to offer, just unpleasantness.

Clearly you've got personal problems but this is not the right place for you to inflict them on other people.

"Seriously" has replaced "pernicious" as the word of the day.

In fact, I gave the OP a serious reply to his question - I never passed any opinion as to whether or not he should buy his daughter a car or not - I just rather took exception to the fact that the only replies the OP responded to were on that point rather than on the actual topic.
