Need loan ASAP - no job

Wow - didn't expect all these replies so quickly. Thank you everyone except Apples2, any need for that, really?
Good advice about taking the qualifications off my C.V. - didn't think about that before. I haven't been unemployed for over a year as one reply suggested, only since August - not even 5 months - but it is the longest I have ever been unemployed in my working life. I was initially only applying within my field but around November I started to broaden my applications and now I'm just applying all over the place. I will definitely have a job in April because I work from April to September every year guaranteed, the rest of the year I offer my services elsewhere, in fisheries mainly (I'm an evolutionary biologist). I thought the £5K would stretch but alas it hasn't.
Selling my house isn't really an option as I only require about £2K to cover the mortgage until then and it would be a massive loss in investment.
I will consider some of the suggestions in depth - thank you once again to all who were helpful.
EDIT: Yes, I'm receiving JSA.0 -

Well yes, but be fair. You wrote "now is the time in my life if there ever was one to get a loan, which I could pay off with the loan money itself until I find a job again" which, on the face of it, does sound like a rather crazy notion.zeitgeist.beagle wrote: »I will definitely have a job in April because I work from April to September every year guaranteed, the rest of the year I offer my services elsewhere, in fisheries mainly (I'm an evolutionary biologist). Now you see, that's important information. You've got seasonal employment. That puts a different spin on things.0 -
So you're not really applying for a 'proper' job, you just want something for the next four months?0

How exactly does that work. You get a loan, which you pay off with the loan itself.Your logic escapes me completely.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0 -

Yes i think it was me who said about looking for a job for over a year but i was going on what you posted as you said you had been out of work since Aug 2010 unless you meant 2011.
No job is guaranteed to start in april, i take it your looking for jobs that start now until you start the 1 in april.0 -

I am in a dire situation at the moment, which a loan could completely change.
I bought my first house 18 months ago with my ex girlfriend and since May 2010 I have been responsible for all the mortgage (since we split up).
In August 2010 I was made redundant and have been searching for a job since - I have a specialised degree so jobs are hard to come by which tailor to me.
I have been living off £5000 of personal savings since then but just before Xmas I went into my overdraft for the first time in 6 years - which for me was very embarrassing and demoralizing experience, since I have always pride myself on being financially independent. I have been searching for jobs well outside my typical commute zone in desperation but recently my car also broke and don't have the money to repair it (when its rains, eh?). I reluctantly applied for a loan with my bank (Santander) on the 28th Dec 2010. I have never had any type of loan before, when I was a student I worked 40+ hours in a fast paced retail outlet to pay off my courses myself because I didn't want the debt, and I've never had any credit cards because I like to live within my own means.
But the situation as it stands is that I'm 2 months away from losing my house and being homeless. I thought now is the time in my life if there ever was one to get a loan, which I could pay off with the loan money itself until I find a job again. I have not been out of work for this long but where I live 1 in 6 is unemployed and my specialised field of work seldom advertises jobs. I have sent my C.V. for jobs such as cleaners just so I can get a bit of money in but 9/10 they don't reply and one replied saying I was "overqualified" to be a cleaner and didn't seem to take my application seriously/
I am really starting to panic now regarding money and a letter received yesterday told me my loan application was unsuccessful since they do not lend to the unemployed.
Is there any where I can turn to for help? Other loan companies etc? I have worked so hard for everything in my life, and buying my first house was a really proud moment for me. I don't want to lose it for the sake of missing a few months mortgages when I know for certain I will have a job by summer.
Any help at all is appreciated.
Thanks.

Logic being if I was accepted for the loan, X amount of money would be transferred into my bank, which for the next 3/4 months I would use to pay the loan off with - basically it eats itself. But then when I work again it doesn't matter because I won't be losing money.0 -

Yes, sorry it was my typo. I meant August 2011, not 2010. I have a seasonal contract for my April job so I know I will definitely be in employment.0 -

Still cant see a loan forthcoming as you need employment to show the lender you have a means to pay it back.
Good luck in the path your choose.0
