Fizzy Drink Substitute?

Re drinking plain water - I have tried, but just can't do it. I remember once when I was a kid I nearly got heatstroke & dehydration, because there was nothing to drink but plain water and I wouldn't drink it. Think I managed to get something else to drink in the end!
I can drink squash even if it's really weak (don't like it but can drink it) or water if it has a slice of lemon/lime in it that I can squeeze into it!
I can't drink plain fizzy water - yuck!
Also can't stand squash when it's too strong, that's nasty!
I do normally drink the recommended amount of water (as squash) and theses days notice very quickly if I'm suffering from dehydration - I'll get nasty headaches, so make sure to keep well hydrated.
But as for the original topic of fizzy drinks I'm afraid I can't think of any other ideas.A waist is a terrible thing to mind.0 -
I used to drink gallons of sugar free cola and lemonade but just decided a year ago to stop and haven't had any since. I drink sugar free Vimto or Robinsons sugar free squash diluted quite weak and I find it is fine. mind you, I do have cups of tea but not coffee.
I tend not to have fresh juice in the house as I can't resist it and drink and drink and drink it and this results in an upset tummy!!!
On the pepsi max front, could you try half and halfing it with caffeine free cola first, and then cutting down to all caffeine free and then trying to stop drinking it? It is really bad for your teeth even though it is sugar free and the thinking on the "fattening" thing is that when you drink it your brain recognizes that it is sweet and starts and insulin response - when your body realises that there is no sugar then it cuts off, but doing it all the time can result in insulin resistance which does make you fatter (or so I was told!).Jane

I was never a fan of hot drinks either, its only the last year at least that ive started drinking them nescafe powder sachet drinks.
And that one (sorry to deflate the bubble!) will stain your teeth, especially if you add sugar or have it without milk (though it still stains with milk added too).
Its the same with black teas (eg earl grey, breakfast tea/English tea/pg tips etc) but not with green or most herbal teas (eg dried fruit type, peppermint, calomine....etc)
Best is just plain water. Or milk or milk substitutes such as unsweetened soya.0 -

When we were in Tesco last weekend, we saw that they are doing a diluting juice - cola bottles flavour (there's also a lemon sherbert). Why don't you try that to see if it can wean you off your cola habit?0
