Tap water for me, ours is lovely. If you don't like the taste of tap water in your area, a water filter that you can keep in the fridge will pay for itself soon enough.0

I used to drink a massive amount of Diet Coke - well, Asda's version, haha. Probably about 1-2 litres a day if it was in the house. What helps me is to not buy the big bottles, just a pack of proper Diet Coke/Pepsi Max/Diet Pepsi cans. I take one can a day to work, and usually don't have any on a weekend. I find it easier to 'ration' myself with cans, partly because they're more expensive (so not exactly very MSE but it's probably not much more money than I used to spend on buying loads of 2 litre bottles!). The rest of the time I drink squash (no added sugar).
When I started doing this I did have a horrible week or so of caffeine withdrawal headaches though...Kate.0 -
I used to drink 2l of Tesco diet cola every day. Now I mostly drink value sparkling water. I still sometimes have a can at lunchtime but I'm not sure I even like it anymore - it is just a habit. I swapped to fizzy orange/apple etc to start with but I did it by replacing one drink at a time i.e. for my first cola drink of the day I'd have orange instead then diet cola the rest of the day. A week or so later I'd replace the second drink of the day with orange until I was off the caffeine. And so on. After that it was easy to switch to fizzy water. Keep some painkillers handy as you could still get caffeine withdrawal headaches. If you're anything like me you'll feel much better without the diet cola.
The other posters are right too, diet drinks will sabotage your diet if you are trying to lose weight.0 -

aaw man! everything I like is bad for my diet!0 -
I think water is the best option too - I frequently fall into the trap of relying on an overly sugary caffeinated drink as a pick me up when I know water is better for me. A good way is to substitute juice or squash for the times when you feel you need a boost, and gradually cut that out. I always feel better when I drink water. It's just the early mornings which are the hard part and its so easy to reach for an instant fix. The down afterwards though is really tough.
Keep at it.I'm doing a similar thing now as the run up to Christmas was so busy.

It wont be the diet drinks that are sabotaging your diets.
0-3kcal per 100ml is not very much even over a few litres.
The fizzyness of the drink will help fill you up temporarily until you burp.
WHen i have dieted before I have used this to help bloat me until my meal has filled me.0 -
High caffeine intake also reduces the ability for the body to absorb iron and this can lead to anaemia.0

I live on pepsi max...is sparkling water really any better for you or your teeth?
I thought it would be around the same...
I cannot stand water, absolutely hate it, so that just isn't' an option for me unless its sparkling or flavoured. I do drink through a straw at all times, though.0
