Prepayment mete4r seems considerably cheaper??
I'm in a block of 4 flats with Economy 7 metal-disc-spinning-round type meters and radio teleswitches..
The former tenants of a neighbouring flat didnt pay the bill reliably. Their old meter was removed and a new digital one installed that is prepayment type, stick a key in it to charge it up..
There's a buttom on the face of it that can be pushed to show different information, screen I and K of which are the Day and Night rate of electricity in pence/kwh
The day rate on this digital meter shows as 12p, the night as 5p , which sounded cheap so i compared it to my last bill from EON: on my current tariff, I pay 29 or 18 for day (tiered 900kwh/yr @29 remainder @18), and 6 for night..
I thought prepay was expensive but it seems these guys get quite a good rate.. I figure my annual bill would be £690 on their rates rather than my current £1000, so what's the craic? I've been on uswitch and scottishpower (supplier of aforementioned prepay meter) and plugged all the details in.. Cheapest I can get is a predicted £770 annual, so i'm guessing that as a contract customer I'm still not getting as good a rate as this payg meter
Anyone any idea what's going on?
Cheers

They will probably also have a standing charge. This usually shows up if there is only 1 tier reading for the day rate.PP fate are noemally now the same price as paying you bill without any DD discounts.Self Employed, Running my Dream Jobs0
