AA renewal charges---haggle!!!

We have just had the notification of renewal of our membership of the AA.
They quoted £110. When I looked up the AA website, for exactly the same services the quote was £92. So it seems that 40 years customer loyalty counts for nothing in the scramble for new money!! So I phoned and pointed this out to their staff and threatened to cancell my membership, start again at the lower rate, thus causing them all the additional paperwork. " Of course you can have your membership at the lower rate," was the reply!!!
Something similar happened to us when we realised BT had been overcharging for broadband for years!! Got that at a vastly cheaper rate too.....
Lesson learned...HAGGLE dont let the blighters get away with your cash. :j

My AA was up for renewal (£116) and I heard about the deal that RAC were doing so I decided to go for that and cancel my AA, I phoned the AA and plainly told them I wanted to cancel,
    they said why,
I said I could get it cheaper elsewhere
they said what if they brought the price down to £89
    I said no thanks
    they said what about £69
    I said no thanks
they said that was the best they could do
    I said goodbye

So I got it for £29 (same deal) at the RAC and there is £20 quidco cashback!!!

I've been a member for 4 years and have never had to call them - is it even worth £9?
  • When the renewal for out joint policy came we just cancelled it and started two new individual policies - complete with two lots of Quidco cashback

  • We got £60 quid off our AA renewal by comparing with RAC & Brittannia and telling AA we'd cancel and go elsewhere. Will do it again next year for sure!

My gran bless her, did that too last year. She'd been a member forever but mentioned how much it had increased. I told her about some of the other options available and she phoned to cancel and I think she got it offered for £64 or there abouts.
  • Seems you have to haggle for everything these days just to get a fair price.
