    Thanks for the replies

Jalexa I've been submitting the reads to the same company, so nope no incorrect reads as imp instead of metric. Our usage has been under the 25 kwh average for years, in 3 properties (all 3 bedroom) and I'd always thought we used above average

We have elderly neighbours one side who even have heating on in summer, they're in their 80s. Other side also still occupied by same people who I remember mentioning she keeps it warm for the older dog even when she's out

I'm currently keeping a daily check and trying to keep check during day too, even noting the numbers past the decimal point to see what each thing uses
One day I might be more organised...........

"25kWhrs/day average (over a year) is not "impossible", but your previous post of "we used the same per day average in winter of 23kwh per day" is truely exceptional.

The problem is your increase is only an increase to quite a normal consumption. I doubt anybody here can explain why you now have "normal" consumption. Which is what you have asked.

I do mean for years over winter, so exceptional we must be. I remember when we had a gas prepay 5 years ago being alarmed if usage went over £5 per week

I'm not a cold person at all but my partner always feels it, so guess when he's out the heating isn't on so we are lower users

Been monitoring very closely and since Sunday morning we've used 1.68 cubic metres of gas in 48 hours. There is about 11kwh per cubic metre, so that'll be about 19kwh of gas according to energy linx, that'd be more 'normal' for us when it hasn't been cold

If only we were low electricity users I'd be even happier but that's well above average :(

  • Sounds like you really have to have a look at your house as a whole to be fair, remember the greenest Kw/h is the Kw/h that you dont use, have you looked at things such as tripple glazing, free loft insulation schemes in your area? your temperatures set on your boiler?....as a rule of thumb:

Kitchen, living areas, dining rooms: 21 Deg C.

    Bedrooms & Bathrooms: 18 Deg C.

Set the flow on your boiler to 45 Deg C. instead of 55 and 65.......and see if it makes a difference.........the more heat you can keep in the house the better though!!

If there is one room I want really warm it is the bathroom. It is the only room in the house where a lack of clothing makes me feel really cold. The kitchen should be 18 and the bathroom 21.

    Perthenergy

Living areas and upstairs are 17.5 at the most, puppy doesn't like it much warmer
We occasionally put the heating up for showers
The pressure repair was done in December but the higher usage was November too
Usage is at present 9.5-10kwh per day heating and water, so below average according to responders so far, need to keep a close eye - I'm wondering if it's my teen and pre teen as they've been showering at the pool since I have checked
There is no loft or Walls to insulate as I've said before it's a council prefab. Have double glazing.
