Kenwood - needs a service!

Hi,

I've been lucky enough to have been given an old (1960s I think) Kenwood mixer - but it needs a good service. There's a black substance oozing out when I just made some cakes (eewwwww).

I wondered if anyone could recommend somewhere/someone to get it done? I don't mind couriering it somewhere, but am also within driving distance of Manchester and Leeds.

Thanks!!

    I've used Kenwood Chef Restore.
My beloved chef was not working well before at all... it now works beautifully.. smells a little oily still but i haven't used it that often since i got it back.

Here's what it used to look like (not my picture):

Theres a little workshop in Ripon, North Yorkshire called W E Dixon (Ripon) Ltd.

They are service agents for Kenwood,

01765 604351 ask for Mr David Hardisty.

i worked for them for many years, ive retired now, but they are a very family oriented company and will do their best to help you.

That's only grease leaking due to the heat, just wipe it off.
After a few runs it'll stop happening.

    Sorry to bother you folks...

Just getting inpatient for an answer...

Got a second hand KM201 on Saturday (see posts elsewhere) and like it's labouring on low speed.....does it just need the motor cleaning and new brushes and if so how would I go about doing that? There's no kenwood service agents nearby and I can't afford the £20 courier for kenwood restore...

    Many thanks

Kenwood's website has a list of authorised repairers... http://www.kenwoodworld.com/uk/Customer-Service/Repair-Service/

So there might be one closer to you.

It "might" just need a clean-up and a brush change, though there are other possible reasons for it labouring.***

Brushes can be sourced from places like this for £3.50 http://www.kenwood*chef*used*mixers*and*spares.co.uk and they also do motors. (You'll need to remove the *'s because for some reason the site gets clobbered by the swear filter.) EDIT: Note that sourcing parts from unofficial suppliers can be problematical - you always do so at your own risk.

I'll let you track through the you-tube clips for various refurb and repair options: http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=kenwood+chef+repair&oq=kenwood+chef+&aq=5&aqi=g10&aql=&gs_sm=1&gs_upl=6511l14990l0l18901l13l13l0l2l2l0l114l1083l6.5l11l0

One of the Utube videos was very similar to the noise mine was making
