stressed and upset

Hi guys,
I need some help I've been trying really hard latley to sort out my money and budget and understand stuff. This seemed to be going along ok and now I feel like everything has gone wrong.
My bed broke a few weeks ago and I decided to fix it as I couldn't afford a new one, 2 of the wooden slats had broken. Today I have been trying to fix it and it won't work and I've just been sitting on bedroom floor crying because the screws won't go in :(
I don't have any power tools and no1 has any I can borrow and I can't afford a drill that costs like £20. I bought an electric screwdriver today for £6 thinking that might work, but it doesn't and needs 12 hours charge before use! then I tried doing it with a hand screwdriver and some of the screws are half in and won't come out. Now on some of them the cross bit is all broken n they are stuck in.
My car went to the garage this week and it cost over £200 to fix and all of my bills came out on 3rd Jan, but I haven't been paid yet (should have been on 1st) as boss usually pays people late.
With getting my car fixed and not knowing how much Im getting paid this month and I only need the drill for this one thing, I don't want to waste so much money on it. I just want to fix the bed.
I'm meant to be going out to dinner with my bf at 8pm and I need to shower and wash my hair but I'm just crying instead, I want to txt him and cancel, but we havnt been out in a while. Also hes paying as he got paid alot this month.
I'm now £900 overdrawn and I'm trying so hard to get out of it, but I'm not getting anywhere.
all i need to do tonight is make 3 small holes in a piece of wood, why is it so hard?!
I can't tell my bf what is wrong and why I don't want to go out as last week I spent 2 hours on the phone to him crying until 4.30am at a bus stop after a night out, and I don't want him thinking I'm mad :(
Christmas was a bit rubbish due to family stuff and my best friend always seems to busy to talk to me.

I understand you don't want to tell bf about money etc but is there anyway when you're out later you can you somehow ask him if he can look at fixing the bed, make a joke about it....

I know it's hard when you have no money and even harder when you don't know your incomings month to month. You really need to chat to your boss and say you need the money on the 1st each month due to DD's..

Get ready for dinner and try to have a good evening

    Xx

    Hi

Sorry to hear its all getting on top of you at the moment.

Have you asked in b/f has a drill, or his dad or a mate? or maybe a different elec screwdriver? is he picking you up from yours? and could you ask if he could come a little early to see if he could manage the screws for you? even with a manual screwdriver maybe he'll be able to get them in (might be a bit stronger or more experienced with screwdrivers!)

I know it won't help at all but kudos to you for attempting to fix it yourself - I am such a pathetic girl I could never attempt such a thing and always go for the damsel in distress angle.

Why does boss pay late regularly? have you tackled him on it? have you told him you are incurring overdrafts charges because your rent or bills etc have gone out and he hasn't paid you when due? If its not uncommon for him to pay late and this might happen again could you try moving some of your DDs back by a week or so (some will do this no hassle, no fee or anything).

I would still try to go out for the evening - and to relax and maybe things won't seem so bad afterwards.

And maybe send best friend a text and ask when would be a good time for you to meet up for a gossip as you feel you haven't spent much time together recently?

As others have said; go and get yourself dressed up and have a fab night out. Ask your boyfriend if he can have a look at fixing your bed.
And well done on your debt busting so far; looking at the figures in your sig you're doing well

Dont despair. Men seem to like coming to the aid of a damsel in distress. At least mine does (it makes him feel very superior.) Even if he cant fix the bed he may know a man who can or at least has the appropriate tools to do the job.
With regard to your pay you must tackle your Boss as he has no right to mess you about with you pay continually. Tell him that it should be paid on the correct date and that if it isnt you will be reminding him regularly throughout that day.
Have a great meal out with your BF and think of the money that has saved you. (I should try for a doggy bag as well. :rotfl:).

Just want to offer support as I know how it feels to end up in tears with it all. Hope you went out with your BF and had a fun time. I agree with the advice above and don't forget how far you've come, your figures are looking good. :)
