  • I'm not familiar with Radley as they are not to my taste but I am pretty good at spotting fakes and I think this looks a bit suspect to me.. was this seller selling more then one Radley item?

Ok so as you are not familiar with Radley, what on earth looks 'suspect' to you?

  • Well, I'm not saying it is a fake as I'm not familiar with the brand, but for a brand which is supposed to be good quality the edges on the inside are quite poorly finished in my opinion. And like you said, some of the stitching isn't great. Maybe this is the norm with Radley tags, but the print on the card tag isn't central, which is fine if that's how Radley print all their tags (which strikes me as very odd!) but if not it's dodgy.

Also I would beware of ebay sellers selling branded purses or bags and only using stock photos, they often turn out to be fakes. Does the seller sell alot of radley or branded bags and purses or was yours a one off?

If you are in doubt, you could try posting a thread on the purse forum for some advice.

In my experience with fakes, if it doesn't seem right to you, it's probably not.. I once brought a Balenciaga handbag from what at the time was a reputable website. When it arrived despite never having owned a balenciaga bag before I felt it wasn't genuine, however it was a very good fake - so good that the professional authenticator I paid to authenticate the bag (from photos) couldn't say for certain if it was real or fake.. turned out it was a fake and I fortunately got back all the money I paid, plus some compensation from the website I brought it from.

I wouldn't say that the purse forum would be a fantastic place to check on Radley authenticity. There are barely any threads about Radley on there at all. Unfortunately poor workmanship isn't limited to fakes. I've seen some shocking stitching on Louis Vuitton and Chanel handbags in stores!

True, but surely better then nothing? And yes, I agree that not all high end bags have perfect workmanship (that's why I won't buy a LV) but it's never a good sign. Anyway, like I said before I don't know if it is a fake, but I would definitely find out for definite before deciding to keep it

I would have thought the price tag would be one of the easiest parts to fake :(

    Interesting thread this.

Have just been having a close look at my DD's John Lewis Radley purse.

I do think the inner edges of the wallet section in pics 3, 4, and 5 particularly on the left hand side, look a bit roughly cut. The edges on my Dd's purse are very clean, straight and neatly cut.

Also on pic 5, the finish around the upper curved edge on each side is not as tight, clean and neat as my DD's purse.

Having said that, on the John Lewis website picture, the sample pic of the purse I bought for my daughter has some quite clumsy double stitching to the right hand edge and if my eyes are not deceiving me, the lower edge of the flap does not seem completely straight and parallel with the lower edge of the purse, whereas this is not as obvious in my daughter's purse.

So presumably Radley quality control is not to a totally consistent high standard.

Funny you should say that, there is a tag inside the purse which says 'Made in India'... anyone know where Radleys are usually made?

it's real, their bags are made in India and China
