We live fairly localy to Elevden and have stayed at CP countless times. We have had a bike stolen about 5 years ago. It was a 1k+ bike and it was locked up however the lock was cut off. My fault it was an expensive bike with a £5 lock on it. It wasn't CP fault, they filled in some forms and admitted that it does happen. (stupidly on my part it wasn't insured) I was annoyed, but what more could they do for me?
From reading the local news paper (bury free press) They is now a police presence at CP which CP fund 50% of his/her wages. But I didn't see any when I went to CP in September.
I know a number of staff & ex-staff and the problem only seems to be with bikes. The same holiday that my bike was stolen we had checked out and i remebered I left my iphone on the bed and the cleaner took it to the lost propery.
I still go to CP and still have a brilliant time however I don't take my bike, I normally just rent one.
I've booked to go again in April and i'm going to take my new bike, but I have made sure its insured before I go this time. I'll try and put it in the villa at night and locked up with a motorcycle lock during the day.
You can get a free cycle lock from the cycle centre (returnable deposit) its one of those D shaped locks.0 -
I would've never though there was a problem with theft! You wouldn't know it. I've been going to Sherwood every year for the past eighteen years and never had any trouble or any problems whatsoever. Well, apart from the time I sliced my finger open in one of their phoneboxes!!~
Heaven's heard me calling. The stars have all aligned.0 -
Hi we've been to Elveden three times and not had any problems at all. We sometimes put our bikes away in the big storage cupboard inside the villas at night if we have taken our own.0
