NCP Parking fines - X4!

Options
Hi all,

I have 4 parking fines from various dates from parking in Leagrave Train station car park (Luton).

Foolishly I didnt buy a ticket as had to run to catch train each time...

Had a letter throgh from ICC Legal Services demaning £100 for one nd no doubt more will come through.

Should I pay due to the amount x4 will be a lot so they may take me o court?

Any help appreciated.

NCP don't do court and never have.

I'd suggest you either ignore or go on the attack. Ask for the drivers details (and remind them that an assumption that the Registered Keeper was the driver isn't sufficient) and then ask for the proof that an agreement was agreed to. You might also want to ask them if they're registered with the FSA and have a credit licence to authorise and pursue this so called 'debt' as they call it. Frankly you don't even need to attack them really, they've nothing to go on and you're under no legal obligation to name the driver liek you'd have to with the police.

Typically NCP send out a ton of bluff letters with their own letterhead however they do like to change their ways of doing things to stay ahead of the game. I suspect this legal company letter is just another blag quite frankly as NCP don't like bad press. I think thats why NSL demerged from them for on-street enforcement.

Whatever else you've got, you don't have 4 parking "fines". So stop calling them that, all it does is to make them sound as though they have some legal existence or importance. Think "invoices" not "fines".
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.

It could be argued that the landowner has lost 4x whatever the daily pay & display rate for the car-park is , so could sue for that figure (say £10 for a day's parking, x 4 so £40). Anything above that figure is a contract penalty which is unforceable and can be safety ignored
  • Many thanks for the replies all... Much appreciated.

I shall await the onslaught of letters and take the general advice of ignoring them.

But I will pay for a parking ticket from now on.. Regardless of if I miss the train or not haha
