TV License and Monthly

Probably the totally wrong section but could not find a relevant one.

Can you tell me if it is possible to get a TV license just for a few months? i.e. I am looking to rent a cottage for a few months but need a tv but obviously do not want to pay for a whole year.

Thanks
D'Oh!

    From the TV licencing website.http://www.tvlicensing.co.uk/gethelp/faqs.jsp#link3
You still need to buy an annual licence. However, we can issue a refund for any full three-month (quarter) periods of cover not used should you stop using a TV and therefore no longer need a licence.

  • Ssshhhh....I won't say a word.
"If toast always lands butter-side down, and cats always land on their feet,
what happens if you strap toast on the back of a cat and drop it?"
  • I wish I had found that when I tried to get a refund on mine. (I moved in temporarly with someone who already had one)

They were right gits about it and refused to refund anything as they asked me if I might need one again in the "foreseeable future" I was stupid enough to say it was possible in maybe six months time, and so they said no refund for me. :(

That's the last time I tell the truth to a question like that!!!
  • Is the TV license personal to you, or is it to the property. i.e. if i buy one now for the property I am renting for a couple of months, is it still valid in another property later on in the year? Is it a pain in the ar*e to change it, or is no change required?

Can't seem to find this info on the TV license website

EDIT: Ok just found you have to register change of details - how easily is this done, do they make a meal of it?

When I moved recently, I just phoned them up. New license came through in a few days.
