    As above brake wear sensors dont always work.

    I would get the items done sooner rather than later, Brakes are worn why delay?

    Play in a suspension joint wont get any better, Wait until its caused abnormal wear in your tyres?

    Then get the joint and tyres replaced instead of getting just the joint done now?

    Last year the 1st MoT on my wife's car reported that the front brake pads were 80% worn, the car had done 40,000 miles. The estimate from the independent garage was circa £93 for fitting new pads and sensor (just in case it needed a new sensor). I got new pads for £29.62 using a Eurocarparts discount code and a free postage offer. The main dealers estimate started with 1.25 hours of labour @ £120/hr :eek:

    As for the discs being marked, pitted, scored they are made of cast iron and they do rust and get scored. I changed the discs on one of our cars when it was 10 years old (72,000) purely for cosmetic reasons as they still worked OK. My everyday car is a 2.2lt automatic diesel and that does around 60,000 to a set of pads and 100,000 to a set of discs.

    They frequently don't work. Don't rely on the light coming on.
    Fair enough, point taken, will not wait.
    The sensor is built into the pad. It is two metallic strips and when the pad wears to the point they're exposed, the brake disc completes the circuit and the dash warning light illuminates.

    Funny I had to see it spelled out to get things into perspective, You are right brakes probably the most important safety thing in your car so should not 'chance' it. I will book it in soon after pay day :o

    Now, thinking about it, yes I think that the front tires have worn unevenly but bought the car second hand but I think they are two different tyres and assumed one was worm more as was older. Will check in the morning about tyres difference in brand and thread left.

    Will the rod end be expensive?

    I had a track rod end replaced by my mechanic a few months ago, I'm pretty sure it was only about £30 all in for them to do it. Brakes are wear and tear items, so they are going to need replacing when worn.
