Who is my gas supplier???
Options
Hello,
We moved house last August but I'm still to hear anything from my gas supplier. Obiously I'm still getting gas but have received no contracts or bills. Does anyone know how I can find out who is supplying me as I don't really want to recive 1 huge bill in a years time!
Many Thanks,

Hi Mike
It is Transco you need to ring - they will need your meter number. I have had to contact them a few times for work related info.
Even though you haven't been receiving bills, it is still your responsibilty to ensure you are paying for the energy you use. It seems a tad unfair but you may find that they aren't that sympathetic if you have a large outstanding balance.
GAS SUPPLY - If you do not have a bill or cannot see it the information on a recent bill, call Transco's Meter Helpline on 0870 608 1524 and ask them for your MPRN number and name of your registered supplier if it not shown or your recent gas accounts

When we moved last year I put the address into one of the power switching sites. It told me who was supplying the gas and electricity to the property, and how the previous occupant had paid for the supply.0

Which site is this? I take it you mean whether or not the meter is a prepayment meter, not their actual payment method (which the suppliers wouldn't tell a switching site).0

Thanks all, I called the number suggested by Claudie, turns out its British Gas.
Hmm  BG are cutting gas prices by 17% by next month, so if I wait until then to contact them, presumably the whole bill will be at the lower cost per therm
Does anyone know if, when the price has fluctuated, the bill is calculated at the rate on the day the it is produced, if so I stand to do some :money: :j :money: moneysaving!Mike

Nope. BG will charge you the current rate from the day you move in until the date of the price change, then the lower rate after that.0

Sorry to burst your balloon but from work experience we receive our bills back dated and at the amounts they were charging then...and they are due immediately eg we received a bill after Christmas I think it was Q2 06(Apr-Jun) and they wanted payment within 7 days as technically we owed the money in June.
IMHO their customer service is amongst some of the worst I have ever encountered! I am always ringing to ask for bills, go figure. The smallest deed is greater than the grandest intention ~ Anonymous0 -

Can't remember which site I used but it told me the suppliers and also came up as quarterly billing.0 -

Fair enough, but no readings have been taken since we moved in last August, so are you saying they pro-rata the charges? Not my understanding of the system but I'll wait until after the price drop comes into effect before alerting them & see what happens...
Thanks again!Mike

Yes they do pro-rata them. What will happen is they will estimate the meter readings on the price change dates, based on your consumption to now. Prices went up in September as well, so you will se three sets of charges on your bill, one for August, one for Sept to March and one for March onwards.0
