Saab V 307

Hi

I need an automatic car ASAP as my husband is currently driving my manual Mini cooper and I am having to drive his auto BMW 525 :j

I have arthritis and am having a bad flare up which has made me make the decision to change. I do about 4000 miles a year so running costs aren't a great issue for me nor is the age of the car.

OH has found a couple of 307 convertibles on a 57 or 58 plate all of a similar spec, we have also seen a Saab 9-3 Aero convertible on a 54 plate but low mileage for a similar price. We would like to px my Mini (04, 26000, good condition) and pay max of £3000 on top.

Any ideas? Many thanks in advance

Karen

DD has a 93 Aero and loves it. So reliable, comfy and easy to drive, hers is the diesel but she regularly does long journeys. Don't be put off by Saab going bust there will still be plenty of spares etc. for a long time.
  • out of comparing just those two, the saab would be the better ride and quality motor.

maintenance, the saab would double the cost of a 307 would be to service and maintain.

saab engines, avoid the diesel at all costs (vauxhaull engine with poor turbo's) but the diesel is cheaper to service.

    307. electrical problems are rife, gearbox's tend to fail, cheap and nasty interior even at half leather spec.

    what else to considder.

    dodge.

    vovlo.

    toyota.

    nissan.

    honda.

    subaru.

    mitsubishi.

all have nice looking motors, comfort, auto's widely available.

From this choice even a GM Saab will still be miles better than a Pug, but either will come up woefully short against the 5 series.

Just had a test drive of the Saab - nice car! ;)

Really solid, not as responsive as the 5 series but with the roof down who cares?

Thanks for your replies, the car has every extra you can think of and is full leather, I really love my Mini but I think this could be a good replacement.

Just bear in mind that Saab have just gone bust so parts availability in future years could be problematic.

generally engine parts are never really an issue but body panels etc can be problematic. Rover went years ago yet nearly every part you could want is still on the shelves or being made. If the market is there suppliers will continue to make the parts.

    here here.

some companies even buy the copy right from going bust firms to produce the parts.

i shouldnt worry about part availability, panel availability, electrical, or interior parts.

companies will pick up the patent buy the copy right and produce the parts soon enough.
