Chasing wall for cabling

Hi all,
It is normal for a electrician to cable chase using a cross hatch pattern for the cable run.
Excuse the poor diagram, but he appears to have chased as follows:
#
#
#
#
#
####
(ie solid vertical chase with horizontal cross hatch along approx 1 1/2 inch either side)
rather than what I was expecting:
"
"
"
"
####
(ie solid vertical chase to plug/socket)
Just seam a little odd. Will this help the plaster bond better when we fill the holes?
Thanks

Did he do this with an angle grinder? It looks to me like a fairly reasonable way of defining the chunks to pop out with a chisel leading to a very quick job. Also, it reduces the amount of hitting required to take out the chase, reducing collateral damage.
What was it into? Concrete building block? Thermal block? Brick?
As you say, it will help the plaster key in.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
Thanks for your reply DVS, I am a little more relaxed about it now. He used a chasing machine (two blade variety rather than one of these does everything in one go).
Chasing is into mainly brick but there is some thermal block i think.0 -
The cross chiseling on the vertical run is just to break the bricks neater, less waste is being cut away with each blow,Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
What it may grow to in time, I know not what.

I hope there's a socket at the point of your 'L' otherwise the cables are not run in the safe zones....0
